Needing to know if I need to do the whole petition for a name change thing.
I have kept my maiden name. How do I go about inserting it into my children's names? They're already born.
It's easy enough to do, you just have to find out who the legal authority is where you live to have it changed. I know in Australia it would be done through Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages and in Ontario, Canada it would be done through Office of the Registrar General. You'll probably need the father's authorization to add your name if they are currently using his name.
Reply:Guess you can petition for a name change, but you and the father on the birth certificate will have to sign and agree. Does he?
