Do you confuse your children's names on a daily basis?

I'm starting to think I'm going nuts! I will be looking RIGHT AT one child and call him by the others' name!! Then they give me a weird look and say..."MOM, I'm_____!" Sometimes they even end up Bcarson or Cabodie!!! Their names don't even SOUND alike Carson and Bodie. They look A LOT alike and even their teachers do it! It doesn't help that the little one has the same kindergarten teacher as the older one. But even teachers that are new (the art teacher and music teacher) do it. The little one told me last night that he wants a shirt that says "If you call me Carson, you owe me a dollar" and he wants to wear it to school!!! The only time I remember my own mom doing it was between my brother (Ricky) and THE DOG (Rocky) and there were 4 of us!!

Do you confuse your children's names on a daily basis?
I do it to my son a lot. And I drag the dogs into it. Usually it's the puppy I'm scolding. He's pretty sure his name is EvanJakeMajor.
Reply:It's a normal thing when you have more then one. I call my kids, 3 of them, the other ones name all the time. I have only one daughter and two son's , but sometimes I get so confused that I just go through the list of names until I get the one I mean. Heck, sometimes I just say "what ever your name is just get out of that". lol Don't feel bad, it is absolutely normal. I even throw my husbands name in the mix every once in a while.

God Bless, D
Reply:I do it all the time! I usually get out the first syllable and then try again and sometimes even that isn't right. I usually end up with "Hey, YOU!" I have identical twin boys and I can usually tell them apart but they get very annoyed when the general public can't. They hate wearing name tags and now that they are in school it upsets them that the teacher doesn't know them.
Reply:Whe I was younger my mom did it to us and it drove me crazy! I would be like, "mom, i'm Lauren" my brother and sis are Matt and Caitlen so we didn't sound anything alike either, it really did make me mad BUT...

Now that I have three kids I do the same thing! Mine don't sound alike either, they are Madison, Alexander and Arianna and I do it alot too! Now my daughter tells me the same thing, she says, "Mom, I'm Madison!"

LOL! Deja vu!

Reply:My dad will call me and my younger sister by each other's names a lot. Which is funny, cuz we're 16 yrs. apart and I haven't lived at home for most of her life! But I work with him, so he does mess that up often, between work and his house. Sometimes at my parents house, I almost call my daughter by my sister's name, I think cuz they both have a 'k' sound in their name, but other than that I have no clue why I do it! It just comes out that way...
Reply:I only had the twins, and I can't remember getting them mixed up (amazingly!). My mother on the other hand had us three girls and when the dishes needed doing (before the age of dishwashers!) would shout all three names in quick succession:

'Hilry, Baaaarbra, Vaaalreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! DISHES!'

It became an unwritten rule that whoever's name was last (the long wailed one!) was the one she REALLY wanted to do the job and the other two would slope off and hide!

Ahhh! Those were the days!
Reply:Sometimes, yes! It is such a hassle. They are all boys, with something similar about all of their names-James, John, and Sean.

Sometimes i even call the hubby James-it sounds so similar to babe, i just get soo confused lol. youre not the only one. im sure theyll all be yelling at me when theyre older too.
Reply:I often go through the list to hit the name I'm looking for " Oldest! Youngest!..... HUSBAND!" Which is terrible since my mom did the same thing, except she included her sister's names when she was searching for name.

I have given up and decided that I am just as ditzy as my mom. There are worse things.
Reply:I was always called my older sister's name and we really don't look all that much alike. The whole family does it, teachers did it. My grandmother and mother get kids mixed around all the time. They will go down the whole list of names then go "you know who i'm talking to"
Reply:yah, sometimes. I have 4 siblings and we always gave my mom a hard time for confusing us. My aunt had 7 kids and was always going through all the first syllables before getting to the right one.

Stop using their names and use endearments - I use 'sweetiebabycookiehoney' as all one word.
Reply:My dad called my Becky for years. My name is Lynn and sister Bec is 15 years older.

I did it with my kids too.

CHRISERINTRAVISTASHA......Tasha is the dog so she would come running every time.

I think Bodie should get the shirt. Good for him.
Reply:how funny you say that. i do to. i get the animals names wrong and even my husband i call him our sons name. i think we are as women are going going 10000 miles an hour. and our minds are thinking a million things. and its so normal. your not alone
Reply:I do it CONSTANTLY and Emma and Deirdre are NOTHING alike. It's a mom thing, don't sweat it. As for at school, it's just because they look alike and are close in age.
Reply:I get called the dogs name

Our daughter gets called the dogs name

The dog gets called my or our daughters name

My fiance gets called his Uncles name (which doesn't even live with us, they look almost EXACTLY a like)

and the list goes on

and on

and on

Reply:My dad used to do that alot when I was younger. There were five of us kids. Mike,Megan,Anna,Tj,and Kati. He'd say,"Mike, Tj, no ... Megan, Kati, .... (point and say) Damnit you!! lol
Reply:I have 4 kids! i do it alot!!!!!

my dad did it to me and my sister, and all my teachers did it to me! '

Kristy and Katie

don't worry, they will get over it with age!
Reply:my granny calls me "tracey terri ashley" on a daily basis lol. my name is ashley. tracey is my sister and terri is my 20 YO neice...she does all the girls like this lol
Reply:Every day, several times a day!!! We have Christopher (the 3 yr. old) and Collin the 12 year old and I can't keep them straight! It's maddening!!!
Reply:I only have 1 son, but I do call him my husband's name %26amp; vice versa! My mom did it to me %26amp; my sis all the time - still does!
Reply:Yep. Danielle..Erick...I mean Taylor! But it's usually when I'm in a hurry. It's a MOM thing... :-)
Reply:Not on a daily basis but once in a while. And my husband sometimes calls me our daughters name! My mom once called our son her dogs name...
Reply:ALL the time!! :-)

My husband is usually called by one of the kids names, and vice versa. It's a running joke now hah
Reply:my grandmother always did that
Reply:i mix up my kids names all the time sometimes i call them my husband my sister. i all so worked in a daycare for 4 years and i did it there to i think that i is because we have so much stuff on our minds that things just come out wrong. there are times when one of my kids is doing something and it reminds me so much of something that one of the others would do that i call them the others child's name. i think that everyone dose thia the thing is are they willing to admit that they do it?

god bless you and your family
Reply:One time I looked at Brayden and said, "Lexi, get your shoes on." Brayden didn't move fast enough so I said it again, "Lexi, get your shoes on". I walked away to do something and when I came back Brayden was STILL sitting there with NO shoes on.

I got really irritated and raised my voice, "Didn't I tell you to get your shoes ON?" He said, "No, you told Lexi." Sure enough, Lexi had her shoes on......happens all the time.

Most days when I try to get one of their attention, I call them, Bray, Le, Ca, Ni.....CODY! By the time I get to the end I am so irritated I am yelling it. Poor kids:-)
Reply:ha ha, you're not going nuts. I do this too sometimes. It's even worse when you do it while talking to other people. just yesterday I did that...I have 4 boys including twins. One of my twins plus my middle son run on the school cross country team. A mom asked me which of my boys ran and I named both twins by mistake and then had to correct myself. I think I do it mostly with the twins because I get in the habit of saying their names together so when someone asked me who runs and I named one of them, the others name just came out by mistake instead of my middle sons LOL
