I'm doing a study about names in our society and I would appreciate your help. Please do not use last names.
1. What is your name?
2. Where are you from (if you feel more comfortable simply giving your region, then do so)?
3. Would you consider yourself/your family working class, middle class, or upper class?
4. What are your children's names?
5. How did you learn about these names and what made you decide to choose them?
6. Have you ever been criticized for choosing these names?
Thank you!

4. Colton Xavier, Natalie Alexis, Zayne Austin, Makenzie Aurora and we are currently expecting Lucas Alexander/Brenna Claire Amelia.
5. Some of the names we used are from people others we searched until we found the perfect name.
6. Yes, sometimes. People don't like the spelling or the name but who cares.
Reply:1. What is your name? Amy Melissa Margaret
2. Where are you from (if you feel more comfortable simply giving your region, then do so)? Nova Scotia, Canada
3. Would you consider yourself/your family working class, middle class, or upper class? Middle class
4. What are your children's names? Jaxon Dean (due in August)
5. How did you learn about these names and what made you decide to choose them? The name just came to me one day, I mentioned it to my fiance and he liked it. I bought a baby book, passed it to my fiance to look at and he opened it to a random page, which just happened to have Jaxon on it. So it just kind of stuck.
6. Have you ever been criticized for choosing these names? Sort of. Nobody in my immediate family likes it that much, but everyone else I know likes it.

3. working class
4. Thai Lyn, Hunter Laine, Callie Belle (all girls)
5. Thai's step sister's middle name is Thy (same pronounciation) Lyn is my middle name, Dad named Hunter because he loves to hunt and Laine is after my mother who's middle name is Elaine, Dad wanted to name her Allie ( I compromised with Callie) my grandmother was born the same month she was and also died 4 motnhs before she was born so she has her middle name.
6. My first two have a different father and my hubby now says that I picked boy names for my girls. But I think they fit them very well. Thai gets compliments on her name all the time.

2. My parents are from (and I was born in) Newcastle, Australia. However, we've lived in Southern Louisiana for some time now.
3. Upperclass
4. No children ... but my siblings are Ruby Elizabeth, Jude Callum, and Gage Michael. I can answer the rest of the questions in stay of my parents, though.
5. Ruby was named for my father's great-grandfather Reuben (It was his nickname). Jude was named for the song "Hey Jude", mom fell in love with the name Gage after reading 'Pet Semetary'. My name is a nickname version of my maternal Grandfather's name, Ralph ... my parents decided on it because it means "Soft/Delicate" in Hebrew (I was born prematurely, and they thought it was appropriate)
6. Yes ... people have always had a horrible habit of asking my parents why they gave Jude a girl's name ... and more than one person has commented that it's weird for Ruby to have her name when she doesn't have red hair. My parents were also told that they should have given me a 'full name' (I suppose they thought it was short for Rafael).

3. Would you consider yourself/your family working class, middle class, or upper class? Working Class
4. What are your children's names? Journey and Myranda
5. How did you learn about these names and what made you decide to choose them? Journey was named because I promised a friend I would name him that for her Myranda is just the name we finally agreed upon near the end of the pregnancy
6. Have you ever been criticized for choosing these names?
No not really, My son gets agrravated because people want to call hin Jonny or Jeremy but her is very quick to pronounce it out slowly for them until they get it. He's 12 LOL and he doesnt have any probl3ems with being made fun of...Myranda was supposed to be Autum until my sister said oh Journey and Autum we can call them Trip and Fall for short...needless to sy we changed the name her spelling however has been an issue for 10 years because I found it spelled that way in a very old book.
2. I'm from the southern part of Texas
3. My husband and I:middle class....my parents:working class
4. Our daughter's name is Erin Michele and our son's name is Jaxon Micah.
5. Erin was a friend of mine who passed away, and Michele is my mother-in-law's name (we've been very close since I was little). Jaxon my husband picked out because he just liked it. His first name is Michael, but he's not too fond of it so we went with Micah instead.
6. My mother said that Erin was too masculine at first, and no one really liked the spelling we chose for Jaxon but we didn't really care.

2. Niagara Falls, NY....I currently go to school in Ada, OH
3. Middle class.
4. Kristan Morsa and Kittie Kae
5. Kittie was weird; it came from when my grandma used to call me "Kitty" when I was a child. I thought it was a really pretty but not prissy name for a girl that wasn't really childish at the same time. My husband picked Kae for the middle name. Kristan is a name I've always liked and my husband agreed, and we picked Morsa ("mor-say not mor-suh") to honour a friend of mine who died of cancer when I was 5.
6. Not yet, but Kittie is only 3 and Kristan isn't born yet. I just hate it when people misspell their names! (Please spell them right in your study lol)

5. My fiance just LOVED the name Gavin, and his middle name is my fiance's name (his father).
6. Kris' family did not like the name Gavin at all while I was pregnant. After we had him, they grew to like it. Other then that, we've never been criticized for it, but the name is becoming more and more popular these days.

Middle class
Annabel Lee, Mariella Vanessa and Allaina Kathlynn.
Annabel Lee is from a poem written by Edgar Allan Poe of the same name. I read it in high school and have always loved it. Mariella's name was found after lots of searching. While I was pregnant I found myself always in the Mary section of the baby name books. I really liked all the variations but couldn't find one that I loved until one day it popped out at me in a new book. My husband got to choose her middle name, Vanessa, and I love it. Allaina, pronounced, A lay na, is just beautiful to me. Her middle name is after both my mother, Kathleen and my husbands mother, Linda, to make Kathlynn.
Now, Allaina's name was really hard to pick because if you'll notice my name has two L's and two N's. Annabel's name has double letters in each name and by coincidence so does Mariella's name. Because I'm really anal retentive!! I had to choose a name for a girl that followed suit. For some reason if we had a boy it wouldn't matter. I added an L to her first name which took awhile to get used to (I'm not one for mixing up spellings) and the extra N in Kathlynn, which I like better. Call me crazy - my husband did!! but it was very important to me that she not feel left out of the rest of the girls in the family.
Yes, I have been criticized. Mostly, family.
Hope you enjoy doing this study. I love names!! Take care!
