If you don't want to sew in the whole name (and that can be time-consuming), just sew in a small color-coded mark: For instance, red for one child and blue for the other.
Good luck!
I want to sew names into my children's socks to match them up better any ideas, nothing dirty please. thanx
Just get different color thread for each child and put 5 or 6 stitches at the toe of each sock. It worked for me.
Reply:Use fabric paint of different colors for each child then just put a bit on the seam of the toe.
Reply:Why not just put dots on the heels or toes with a permanent marker. Make a differnet number or pattern of dots for each child. More comfortable for the kids too than a sewn in tag.
Reply:Go to craft department and pickup stamps. You can have them pick out what they want. Using a washable, color set paint or ink. Stamp their personal design inside their arch. Then they will have their own personalized socks. Beats having strange dots or Bill or Jane in their socks.
Hope this helps.
Reply:My mother used a color-coded system. Four kids - for colors. She used waterproof markers, and marked the toe area for each of us.
Worked great! Saved lots of time over sewing in items, names, etc.
good luck
Reply:my mom always used specific color thread to tell the difference in her socks and mine, that'd be a lot easier then the name, just let each child pick the color they want
Reply:Why not designate each children to have their own lingerie bag to toss their socks in.. That way it ALL goes into the wash and is CAPTIVE !
Good luck
Reply:well this is a good question . but if you don't want to sew/color code socks, how about what the navy does, tell the kids to single tie the socks thru the belt loops..ie just like the first part of tieing your shoelaces but without the bow(s).
