What would be the names of some of the children's schools/institutions similar to Lowoods in Jane Eyre?

I am doing some research in to the old institutions for orphans and was wandering what would be the names of some of these English institutions? Thanks

What would be the names of some of the children's schools/institutions similar to Lowoods in Jane Eyre?
The school that Jane Eyre attended was actually based on a real school that Charlotte Bronte and her sisters went to. it was the Clergy Daughters School at Cowan Bridge.

The 'Dame' schools mentioned int he comment above were not orphanages, they were day schools attended by children from poor families where they could learn to read and write and do simple arithmetic.

There were workhouses, which took in destitute people of all ages, including children. also foundling homes which were for abandoned children, who would often be left there as babies.
Reply:I'm not quite sure what you mean - the actual names of institutions?

There were various places where unwanted children could be sent; Jane Eyre was lucky in a way that she was able to go to an orphanage and learn, with the possibility of becoming a teacher.

Other, poorer, children would be sent to a Dame School, or a "Workhouse".
