who were your inspirations, and why?
How did you pick your children's names?
No inspirations really. I just like names that are classic and timeless. They also have to be easily recognizable and easy to spell. It's important to me that names work on children at any age - i.e. while "Raylee" may be cute for a 2 year old, it doesn't work for a 30 year old.
Reply:Yes I did have a few inspirations. My daughters are Paige Alexandra and Mackenzie Lauren. For Paige, I always loved the name Paige and Alexandria is my sister's middle name so I gave my daughter the middle name Alexandra. For Mackenzie, I love the name Mackenzie and Lauren is my husband's sister's name and she has helped us out alot over the years.
Reply:I have no children, but my parents named me after a Fleetwood Mac song and Welsh Goddess :)
Reply:I just went by looks. Nome them based on there looks, like he looks like a _______
and so on
Reply:I have always loved the name Jevon so I used the name for my son. His middle name is my husband's first name.
I simply pick names that I like %26amp; that are unique.
Reply:I don't have aany kids myself, but I was named after a song, Sad Lisa. My sister was named after the Queen Anne's Punch my parents had at their wedding. I don't really know how they decided on my older sisters name other then that my cousin was born first and my aunt used the name my parents were going to use, then amonth later my paents used the name that was to be my cousin's.
Reply:We'll i dont have any children myself but mine and my twins names were from our old family
Reply:i was my own insiration... our names are very similar. mine being madilyn and her's madisyn...
Reply:I read a book in high school that had a character with my oldest son's name, and I always kept it in the back of my mind as a name I liked. My youngest was named after his great-grandfather.
Reply:We try to pick names that are classic and properly-spelled, but not overused. Sometimes with a positive association for us -- perhaps inspired by literature or a spunky great aunt ;) -- but just as "meaningful" without (since we aren't the "throw the top ten into a hat" type, ALL the names we consider are somehow special to us). :)
We also make sure each of our girls has at least one name that reflects our Celtic heritage, giving them all a common link and bit of a "story" behind their names, without them being at all similar or matchy.
That name is often considered a bit unusual (in the states), so we try to make sure the other is more familiar, if not common. In other words, while it might not be top ten, or even top 200, it will generally be a well-known classic that everyone is familiar with, even if it isn't completely overused at the moment. It tends to provide a nice balance and give each child options as she ages (since she could choose to use her unusual first name or less common middle ... or vice versa, as the case may be). ;)
Reply:After my mistress.
Reply:i was named after my great grandmother (her first and last name)
my sister was my mothers favorite name and my fathers mothers name.
my other sister was my fathers favorite name and my mothers garndmothers name
Reply:I have 2 daughters one i named Sakura which means cherry blossom because when she was born her eyes reminded me of the cherry blossom tree and I named my other daughter Tomoko because I really like the name and it means wise and i had a feeling she would be wise and she is.

Reply:My stepson Satchel, I obviously had no say in his name as I wasn't married to my husband then. But, my husband and his previous wife named him Satchel after Satchel Paige, and Jonathon after her father.
My daughter Elizabeth Kylie is named for my mother Elizabeth, and for one of my close friends Kylie.
My next daughter, Emily Cosette, is named Emily for no particular reason except we liked the name, and Cosette is for the French heritage in my family.
Reply:I liked one name (andrew) but it was too common so I searched for variations that I liked. I also am big on meaning of the name.
