How can I find out if my ex has used my children's name for bills?

Is there a way that I can find out if an ex has used my childrens names for bills - like utilities and such?

How can I find out if my ex has used my children's name for bills?
start by getting a credit report on the child. that will tell alot, collection accounts, inquiries, etc..
Reply:You can always go through the credit bureaus; Experian, Trans Union, and the other one.

Provide your child's social security #'s, and run a credit check.

If your ex did use their names, then you'll have to send all the credit bureaus a letter to freeze your children's credit until they reach the legal age of 18.

And you'll also have to contact a lawyer for Identity theft and fraud.
Reply:Do a credit check the same way you would check your own credit, only with their names and social security numbers. You can also call companies directly and ask. For example, I can access my electric account over the phone via my social security number. Since you are trying to access for another person, you may have to prove you have legal parental custody to the company, but.....
Reply:You can find out if you have custody, but no if you don't. My ex-wife did this in several states. I could do nothing about it. I only knew about it when I once drove 600 miles to pick up the girls at their mother's latest landing point, and I saw a bill sitting on a counter. She said it was a mistake, but it wasn't.

By the time the girls were adults, they had terrible credit. It took my oldest 14 years to clear it up, including having to repay social security money her mother had collected on her after my daughter moved out at age 16, as was legal in Texas. I was on SSD at the time after being severely injured in a semi truck wreck.

This was a more common problem before billing records was computerized, so I cannot see how he would be doing it now, and as a man, he would be charged with fraud. What evidence do you have that he is doing this?
Reply:If you have custody, you can call the company and ask if there is an account under the childs name. Call an atty. Pull your child's credit report and it should tell you what is out there...but only if you are the custodial parent...if you are not, then you will have to get an atty.
Reply:Call each one up and find out whose name its under. Easy to do.
