How did you choose your children's names?

I can't have children and my sister says she is very glad that I can't ..... she knows what I was going to call them.





They were all going to have four names - like their mother and one of their names was going to be a strong English warrior name.





Priya Susan Bodicea


Margaret Elflaeda Hycienda


Johnathon Paul Brocmail


Simon Ethan Ethelstan.





In my defence, they'd all have at least one 'normal' name, middle names can be hidden; I've worked six years with people who don't know that my third name is Elizabeth and if they wanted to stand out, they wouldn't have to change their names by deedpoll.

How did you choose your children's names?

Reply:My daughter's name is Jade Elizabeth. Oddly enough, I got her name from a dream I had 2 years before I even got pregnant with her.
Reply:My husband and I don't have any kids yet but we have decided that if we have a girl we're going to name her Erin Aliza. Erin is mine and his names put together and a short version of my mother's and Aliza is his mother's name who got us together.
Reply:i mixed a few i liked together, and came up with something that no one else had, unfortunatly i have her christened and now two more kids have her name so i will decline tell you,
Reply:My daughter is Brenna, it is an old family name (400 yrs back) and I was stuck on B names when I was carrying her. My husband wanted a little girl named after me so I compromised on that. A lot of people call me Li and my middle name is Ann so I went with Liann, Brenna Liann.





We as a family of 3 went through hundreds of names with me being the the one with the final decision because I was the pregnant one and still the only name my Hubby wouldn't Poo Poo was his own. He was named after his mother's parents Peter (grandfather) and Francis (grandmother) so he and my son are Peter Francis.

Reply:my 1st child was named after a tub of talc i had in the hospital cos we couldn't agree on a name for her

3rd after my deceased brother in law who died when i was pregnant
Reply:My eldest son is called Luke...in 1981 haha peeps say star wars but it was cool hand Luke..


my next was Matthew but i wanted Elliot (his 2nd name) and peeps think it was a E.T. thing. but was of Pete's dragon..1983.


my next was Mikaela (but she died when born).sad time..1993


next was Bradley his mums choice ( home and away thing). 1995


next a mummy choice Demi-lee..not sure on that one 1997.


next was mine just out of the blue Soreese-Dior...2000..he he ..you had to ask..
Reply:My daughter, Kaitlin was chosen because I wanted a name which shortened to "Kate" I am a big time Hepburn fan, and no one callls Katherine "Kate" anymore.





My triplets, all boys, were as follows


Joseph III, because his Dad is a Junior


Brandon, because I like the way it sounds, very masculine


Adrian, because it is such a cool name
Reply:I named my daughter after my mother. Katherine "Karen" comes from the same name and my hubby picked out her middle name Alyssa





My son I wanted to name after my father and my hubby so he has 4 names.


Devin I wasn't crazy over but I let my hubby pick it since he didn't like my fahters name

My youngest son is called Neil which is after his dad,I wanted to call him Jacob but my hubby had a face on so his name it was..............!
Reply:I don't consider myself to be a religeous person, but my 4 children all have bible names.


I didn't decide to give them all a bible name, it just happened that the names I chose were all in the bible.
Reply:My husband chose the name of our second child a boy. He arrived in the maternity unit and announced he was late for visiting because he had been watching a programme popular in 1963 called Bonanza. He said we should name our son Lorne after one of the characters Lorne Greene. I supose on reflection it could have been worse, he could have called him "Hoss" after one of the other characters, or Little Joe.

Reply:My 3 year old son is called Ronan Sean. Me an his dad loved the name Ronan an Sean is his dads name. My 17 month old daughters name is Kayla Louise. Kayla is actually a name my sister suggested an Louise is my name. Im 10 weeks pregnant an the names i have chosen are Larissa Jade for a girl an Callum-Lee for a boy.
Reply:i don't have kids either (i'm a teen) but i want 2 have a set of twins one boy and one girl, and name them oliver and olivia.
Reply:i read thru 10,001 baby names and chose quite a few...my BF then said no to everyone one of them except 2, so we chose those!! he's called Reuben Luca!





But i liked unusual ones like Echo, Sydney, etc...so i can see why my BF said no!

Reply:I named my daughter Madison b/c it was a name I picked out when I was 15.


I named my son Lochlin, because it means land of the lake, which is where he was conceived and born and their is more to the story, read my question on my profile.
Reply:My daughter... is called Stevie Jo Hannah... My husband is Steve... so is his dad and his step dad and my dad... my sister is Joanna and my nan was Hannah...!!

i said the name Dayne, he said no


then a month later we were watching a film, and the actor had the name Dayne

could have decked him


but wish i just called him Day, that's what i generally call him
