Is it legal for companies to sell children's names on mailing lists without parental consent?

A children's magazine company did this to my children after their grandparents gifted them a subscription. I am currently left to clean up the mess. I need to know if there is any legal recourse.

The names are okay but the addresses wouldn't be able to be published (usually they give a short form eg stating what state and town they're from). This would depend on where exactly you're from though.

There may have also been a clause stating "tick this box if you do not wish for your name to appear/ receive further mailings" etc which they left unmarked.

Contact the children's magazine company and state as the legal parent you do not wish your children's names to appear further in their magazine. They should be able to do something.
