Do you sometimes get your children's names mixed up?

I am the youngest of 4 and I remember my father always getting our names mixed up. If he was trying to get one's attention, he would first call out the other 3 names before he got to the right one. He still does this sometimes and I am 30. LOL

I only have one child, but also have a dog and a cat. There are times when I find myself calling out each of their names as well, before getting to the right one.

Just wondering how many people do this.

Do you sometimes get your children's names mixed up?
hehe, my mom did the same thing, but she would call me my sister's names and the animals names too. I think its funny, I just had a baby 2 months ago and have a dog and a cat, so I'm sure after a while i will do it too.
Reply:Yeah and then I shout "ROLL CALL!!!!"

The thing is MINE are 12 1/2 years apart lolol
Reply:Yep, and my mom did too. I was last of six with pets galore and I was always called last:)
Reply:OMG...all the time....I have too many names to remember in this house between the kids and dogs! I call my kids the wrong name all the time!
Reply:hmmm i do it with my kids and my b/f's family i get all kinds of confused even if i know who it is i am talking too lol my whole family does it. it's pretty funny
Reply:lol~ my mother does...she has six children

I only have one son right now so I better get his name right:)
Reply:I am a mother of 13 2 girls 11 boys so of course I get their names when I am calling Levi I call Logan or Liam or sometimes even Brayden
Reply:no... my mom had 4 bros and sis and she wouldn't get the names mixed up. my mom gets my brothers and my name mixed up. thankfully she doesn't get the cat's name mixed up. although its not so common :P (greystar)
Reply:YES i do it alot actually
Reply:well im not a mother but my mom had 3 children me my older sister and my older brother

and she always calls me but says my sisters name or HER sisters name and i hate it
Reply:my mother does the same and the name she wants to say is always the last one
Reply:My mother could NEVER keep the names straight in our family when I was younger. I have 3 older brothers and a younger sister. I was rarely called by my own name. I'm still not sure which name is really mine! :) I think it happens to every large family.
Reply:yup, all the time.
Reply:my grandma starts with her sisters, then goes through her children and finally gets to the grandchildren. i also do it with my dogs, thankfully i have not lumped my daughters name in with theirs----yet!!
Reply:I have a son %26amp; a daughter.And a brother %26amp; a sister.I am the eldest in the family. I sometime mix my brother's name with my son's name %26amp;my sister's name with my daughter's name.even i used to think do people mis up their children's name.quite interesting
Reply:When I'm really flustered or upset or in a bad mood sometimes I do. My grandma used to sometimes run through the names of all eight of her grandchildren, four children, dog, cat, and husband before she finally got the one she wanted!
Reply:YES!!!! LOL!!! All the time..
Reply:Happens all the time, my grandma did it to my mom and uncles, my mom did it to me and my brother and now I do it to the kids I nanny for. (and yes I sometimes call them by the dog's name too lol.)
Reply:No, but my grandparents always say like five names before they get to mine. It's actually kind of funny : )
Reply:I do that with my 2 kids and sometimes with my niece and nephew. I think everyone does it :)
Reply:I call my 10-month-old by my youngest sister's name. (who lives 2 states away, and was 11 when my daughter was born) It's really funny when I start to get irritated at my daughter for not looking at me when I'm talking to her...only to realize I'm saying her aunt's name instead of hers. lol
Reply:I'm sure all parents do this. My twins were "MerMichelle" and MichMarie". Our son, 10 years younger, objected when I called him "ShadMark" (Shadow was the dog), but he was also "RiMark", Richard being his dad.

My name as a yougster was "WhiSiPatsy" dog and sister coming first, but then my mother called the refrigerator a telephone, too.
Reply:I get my 7-year-old son's name and the dog's name mixed up sometimes. They have a lot in common sometimes. :)

My mom still calls me by my sister's name sometimes and we live 1/2 way across the country.
Reply:Oh sure. I'm the youngest of 6 and rarely got called the right name, first try.

My poor second daughter, Mary, must be convinced that her name is AnnieMary as I always call her her sister's name first.

And yes, sometimes the pets names get into the mix too!
Reply:my mom does all the time .its like come here cora oh abbey sorry crap like that.yah that stuff.
Reply:My dad used to do that a lot. I have 2 sisters so there were three girls and he'd rattle off all of them to get to the right one too.... then we got a female dog and he just added a fourth name to the mix....

He recently bought a boat and named it the "DebLinSan" after us three girls.... it's not so bad....
Reply:After the birth of my son, I called my older child "Garlic" instead of his name. In my defense, my sister was over making lasagna and the house was filled with the smell of garlic. Stilll, that is a slip of the tounge that is still talked about in our family.
Reply:I don't have children, but I know my mom does that often. lol. I do have pets though, and sometimes I call my cat, my hamster's name.
Reply:Well, You Usually Only Get Them Mixed Up If They Are Twins.
